Mixed Feelings but Liking Overall

**Updating review from 3 stars to 4 stars. After wearing them a few times and washing, I actually prefer the shorter split side - I guess that is what they mean by "1/2 split" and it is preferable to some of the longer split shorts which are great when you are standing and active but when sitting or lying down fabric tends to start getting floppy and excessive. I really like how the ASICS are made in a way that avoids that excessive fabric sensation. I wish the logo on the leg was less obtrusive but not a deal breaker. Original review: I’ve been trying a variety of different shorts with 5 inch inseams or less and ranging in price from about $13 up to $68. I purchased these ASICS in white and orange. I like them and I am keeping them but they don’t fit into my top tier of likes. Prior to reviewing I like to put shorts on prior to an evening of lounging, then I sleep in there, get up the next morning and go for a walk, and then wear them through the day. The fit: They hang nicely, are rather drape-y in a way, and look like real shorts as opposed to underwear. White shorts in particular can be problematic. I have returned several recently that were just too bulky and looked like large billowy boxer shorts. These just have a good look when wearing but the white is inevitably going to have a boxer short look to them but at least these look better than others. The feel: These are a stark contrast in fabric feel to the other shorts I have tried. These have more of a soft cotton feel. They are 100% polyester. I do still prefer shorts with a slicker feel that are a mix of polyester, nylon, and elastane. Practicality: Would I be comfortable wearing these on a quick errand? Yes, but since there are no pockets at all, I probably would grab something else. Modesty factor: Nothing much to worry about here as long as you don’t mind showing some thigh meat when you sit down. The fabric is a very fine mesh which you can only notice up close. They are not sheer although when in a certain light you can see things but as long as the liner is in place it is nothing to worry about. MAYBE someone would notice the liner is dark grey if they were intent on checking you out down there. The drape-y fabric actually does help prevent the straight shot view to your crotch that happens with some shorts when sitting. Whether that is a plus or a minus is a personal preference. You decide. So what’s the problem? The price. At $30 I feel there should be more to like than the $15 shorts I’ve bought. The positive reviews I read mentioned “running” and maybe they are ideal for that and then just become OK for every other purpose. But for the price of 2 of these, I’m just $8 shy of what I paid for a pair of pro-grade athletic/running shorts that are rather spectacular. And for $30 I can get 2 pairs of the $15/$16 shorts which I personally like better. Overall these are totally fine shorts. I would probably give them 4 stars if they were priced around $22. Made in Vietnam in case anyone is curious about that.

Is perfect

I am size M in other clothes but I prefer to buy L because it feels much better to train legs at the gym, feels free to move because of the design of the short. I do not change the brand. I have 5 diferent colors and I will buy one by one the others. Super recomend it. My wife says that it seems a little short but it does not matter when you go to the gym and needs to move without anything close.

I like the material, but the innermost material is too tight within the groin area. I'd to stretch out area into alleviate discomfort.

Super comfortable but it has no key pocket

Surprising Asics would offer a running short with no pocket whatsoever. If you don't need a pocket and you want a short inseam, it is excellent.

My least favorite running shorts

I just don’t like them compared to other brands I have in this style. The price is lower than others I wear, and the quality of the fabric is predictably inferior. Not a terrible running short, but I’d rather pay a bit more for shorts I really like.

Great shorts

My husband loves these shorts. It's hard to find short shorts nowadays and these are perfect. They fit true to size and the colours look exactly like the pictures. We're very happy with these shorts - we've bought four pairs.

Runs small

Great for the price. Waist is tighter than I like. I get the XL for a looser fit in my running shorts but these are snug on my 35" waist.
