As listed, this is meant to be a swimsuit with SPF protection; it does what it claims to do. My son is obsessed with divers and diving, and this was one of his favorite birthday presents this year--he loves to pretend that he's a real diver. There are two reasons that I gave the product 4 stars instead of 5--one is that the zipper broke and I had to return it. That ended up being a blessing in disguise, though, because the size 6 that I ordered my 5 yr old son was extremely snug; I would've sent it back right away if he hadn't begged me not to! When we sent back the one with the broken zipper, I ordered the size 8; it still just barely fit my 5 yr old! He is on the tall side for his age, but that's quite the sizing difference. I would say to make sure you order a size up, and be careful with the zipper. Kudos to Amazon, though, for amazing customer service. Not only did they immediately take my return back and let me order a new product right away, they sent the UPS man to my house with a label and everything! All I had to do was put it back in the box and hand it to him--by far the most convenient return I've ever made.

Work Well for Keeping Warm in Swim Class

My 9 year old needed something to keep her warm during swim class. This wetsuit works well. Note that it is made of neoprene in the body and spandex material in the arms and legs (look at the pictures). I’ve included a sizing chart in the pictures too. In my opinion, the sizing is spot on. Wet suits are supposed to fit like a “second skin” so it may take a few styles or brands to get one that fits if you are ordering online. This was my second try.

Great wet suit for the cold skinny kid

I have four girls on the swim team and they swim in a large competition pool which is cold. The older girls have no problems but my 7 year old was miserable. Her lips would be blue and teeth chattering every time she got out, and it reached the point that she was crying she didn't want to go swim because she was so cold and begging to quit the team, coming up with all sorts of reasons to skip or stall so that she was late. I bought several rash guards, long sleeved swim suits and wet suits attempting to help warm her up. This is one of my two favorites. The suit is well made and has held up well with no reason to expect it will not continue to do so. There is sturdy stitching so it doesn't rip or come apart when trying to get it on or off. The zipper area has a flap behind it so there is no way for her to catch herself in the zipper. The pink area is thick thermal lining, keeping her core warm. The blue area is actually just thin like the rash guards, so I'm not sure how much it really helps her but it seems to. Perhaps it is just the power of suggestion. Having the lighter fabric there means that there is no bunching or rubbing in her armpits and she can move freely while swimming (unlike the other suit I bought, which has solid arms and legs). I handle it like a swimsuit, rinsing in cold water, soaking in a bucket of water for 30-ish minutes, rolling in a towel and laying flat to dry. It dries very quickly even when one of the girls lays it out and skips the towel part. One thing about these, you want to order down. My daughter is very very slender, and average height. She wears size 7, sometimes an 8. I ordered size 6 and it is plenty large, but I am certain a size down wouldn't have the length she needs. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again!

Warmer than his other suits and comfy for swim lessons

I have two kids in swim lessons at an indoor pool that is apparently kept cool for the competitive team swimmers. My older child looks fine, but my younger kid would sit on the side of the pool waiting his turn, blue-lipped, shivering, and looking for all the world like he was about to drop dead of hypothermia. He still loves swim lessons, but his dad really hates it when the kids are cold, so I turned to Amazon for a solution. This suit is just perfect for our needs. My kids both think it looks cool. The 10 year old is jealous that I can't get one in his size. The 7 year old just loves it, style, fit and he says it is the warmest suit we've tried. As far as sizing, I did opt for the size 8 for my child who wears US 6/7 clothes. (He's a small-ish kid, too.) He wears a Euro size 120 in his Hanna Andersen stuff, and the metric sizing on the company website size chart gave a Euro 128cm size. The suit looked small when I opened the package, but my child says it fits comfortably. My boys do have shorter torsos than average, however, so that may be a big factor in how well this suit fits your kid. (Did they outgrow car safety seats sooner by HEIGHT or by WEIGHT? That could help you decide about this suit... For example, my 10 year old can still fit in some car seats because his height is in his legs, not his trunk.) Realizing that our summer plans depended upon knowing the truth, I opted to use the delicate cycle (in my Miele washing machine, known for gentleness) to wash the Aqua Sphere Stingray Core Warmer, and it came out perfectly fine. Of course, I put it flat on a rack to dry--no machine drying for neoprene! The black torso portion of this suit IS neoprene. It feels thicker and rubbery-er than a normal swimsuit. The colorful arm and leg portions are the same weight as our other swimwear. I try to help my kiddo in and out of the suit because I fear that the stitching between disparate materials will be a weak point, but I haven't actually seen any evidence that we are putting too much tension on the seams, even when the 7 year old is yanking on it because he forgot to use the toilet before swim class! Our other swim suits include Solumbra/Sun Precautions full leg swim pants and long-sleeve zip-front swim top as well as standard swim trunks, so that's my comparison for fabric weight/warmth. According to the AquaSphere web site, this Core Warmer offers their maximum UVA/UVB protection as well as best breathability and quick-drying.

Perfect for swimming lessons and the cottage. I like that the neck is not high- my kids really don't even like a scarf around their necks!! All the orange is a light spandex fabric, so it gives ease of motion. We bought three and the kids love them and have said they are warmer in the pool ( our local pool is very cold). It seems like a quality item and at a great price! It washes well. My only one issue is that the 8 is almost too small for my just 7 year old- and the next size is a 10( which his brother has) is way to big for him... I'll have to go to another company for his next size- I will not be getting much wear out of this one- but I have a three year old daughter who will one day be in it!

Not a great fit

I bought the size 8 for my son, who is about to turn 8. He is about 50lbs and 51" tall. The suit is a bit short on him, in that it gives him a bit of a wedgie, but at the same time, the suit is very, very baggy around his torso, so I don't think going up or down a size would work. He is definitely on the skinny side for his age, but that is exactly why he needs something like this to keep his little teeth from chattering throughout his swim lessons. Otherwise, it seems like good quality.

Great Product

I bought two of these for our girls for fun in the lake and ocean this summer. They are not bulky. There was never a complaint about the water being cold and no sunburns in sight. Great, great product. I would highly recommend.

Good product and customer service

We ordered this suit for our 6 year old. The size was a bit too snug for him even though we picked a size bigger than him. The suit itself is very good quality and the design is perfect. Just wish it fit him well. We returned the item and the seller was very kind and asked us to keep it even though they refunded us the full money. We will keep this for our younger son. He should be able to fit in it next year. Thank you to the seller for being so kind.
