Simple and Effective: AmazonBasics 6-Outlet Surge Protector Delivers
As someone who relies on multiple electronic devices daily, I was in need of a reliable and affordable power strip. The AmazonBasics 6-Outlet, 200 Joule Surge Protector Power Strip has proven to be a great solution, providing functionality and peace of mind at an attractive price point. The AmazonBasics power strip offers six outlets, which is more than enough to accommodate my various devices, including my computer, monitor, speakers, and phone charger. The 2-foot cord is not the longest, but it has been sufficient for my needs and helps to minimize cable clutter. The 200 Joule surge protection rating provides a basic level of protection for my devices, safeguarding them against power surges and spikes. While it may not be the highest level of protection available, it is suitable for everyday use and offers reassurance that my valuable electronics are secure. The power strip's design is simple and unobtrusive, making it easy to blend into any room or workspace. The white color and slim profile do not draw attention, allowing it to integrate seamlessly into my setup. One minor drawback is the lack of USB ports for charging devices directly, but this is not a deal-breaker considering the budget-friendly price and the primary purpose of the power strip. Overall, the AmazonBasics 6-Outlet, 200 Joule Surge Protector Power Strip is an excellent value, offering reliable functionality and basic surge protection at an affordable price. For those seeking a simple and effective solution for managing multiple devices, this power strip is a solid choice.

Great when you are in a pinch for an extra outlet of LOW POWER, explanation follows
Amazon Basics 6-Outlet, 200 Joule Surge Protector Power Strip, 2 Foot, White - Pack of 2 These are NOT a heavy duty power strip. IT will NOT handle large heavy loads. They are intended for light load like cell phone charging, lamp, maybe a radio, tv, stereo. THEY have a switch to switch on and off anything plugged into it like lights, radio, etc THEY WILL NOT HANDLE tools, heaters, large motors. Keep safety in mind. THey are assembled very inexpensively for low load control. Heavy loads can cause parts to heat up and some have reviewed that they melted. so buyer be ware Recommended for low loading and a quick outlet to power something that does not use a lot of power. I do not know the seller nor did I get any money or product for my random review 230325 1301

Very basic power strip and surge protector
If you want something cost effective and basic for a power strip these work well. If you're expecting some surge protection for high end electronics, not sure this is right for you. The 6' version is not very long so if you need something plugged into close to wall outlet then it works. Space between each of the outlets on the power strip is fairly tight so you will not be able to plug in bulky plugs without interfering with the ones right next to it. Also, I would say the power strip is designed for 90 degree plugs which are most of the electronic ones these days such as the Google WiFi power cables. Anyhow, this is a basic power strip with limited surge protection and short cable length. It was great for my usage.

Effective & Good Cord Length
The wall cord has a good length, and the 6 spots for plug-ins are helpful for plugging in all your essentials.

Failed to protect my electronics
Purchased these Amazon basic surge protectors because I needed more outlets in my apartment about a year ago, they worked fine no problems. Well, within the last week there have been some issues with the power in my building where light were dimming and getting very bright. I discovered this upon waking up so who knows how long the building was having power issues. I immediately recognized this can cause a problem with my electronics so I switched off my circuit breaker for my unit. It took a couple of days but the electricians came, replaced what was causing the issues, and everything was good again, or so I thought. My main computer is hooked up to a higher end surge protector that I spent much more money on as well as my Yamaha audio receiver. Those turned on with no problems. I have another power strip from a different brand I spent a pretty penny on which has my Acer Predator monitor hooked up to, as well as my mixer, Ethernet switch box etc. All working fine. However, I go to my Sony receiver that I use to exclusively power my sub woofer which is hooked up to my Amazon basics "surge protector" and it is completely dead. The silly part is the surge protector still has the light on that says "protected". If you have expensive equipment, do yourself a favor and spend more money on quality surge protectors.

Two quality power bars for the price of one
Like with my other Amazon Basics product purchases this has proven to be a good choice for simple power bars. While similar to many other power bar options this ends up being a better buy, especially if you have a Prime membership as you get another 20% off and it gets delivered to your door. I was able to buy two quality power bars for the price of one at the local hardware stores. I would never buy a dollar store power bar, they offer no protection and often they’re NOT certified for use in Canada which means that if they ever cause a fire you may have problems with your insurance claim. These bars are CUL (Underwriters Laboratories of Canada) certified. Like many other power bars available today they use Varistor components to supress power surges but they do not help with any drops in voltage, you'll still need a UPS (uninterruptable power supply) to keep things running when brown outs happen. In the event that power bar has had to protect your equipment from too many surges the LED will no longer come on, this means its time to replace the power bar, its done what it was designed for. Unlike many power bars in the same class, these have a slightly longer cord, 24 inches (61cm) from the end of the bar to the end of the plug. Most others that I've bought have an 18 inch cord. While not a big difference for me it often means the difference between the whole thing partially hanging off the AC outlet vs. it laying on the floor. Construction wise its very similar to the others, a sort of two piece clam shell affair which is solid enough but also has a little bit of flex lengthwise which allows for being trapped or jammed between something and bending rather than breaking. Like others there are also two eye hole slots which can be used for mounting it on a wall with two pan head screws. There is one important item (for me) that I want to mention. The power switch, while not completely flush, its mounted low so that accidentally depressing it doesn’t happen. The switch and a red LED both light up once the device is plugged in and the switch is activated. I like this as it eliminates guess work if I plug something in and it doesn’t work, I can tell that the bar is plugged in and there is power at the AC outlet.

Good, but short
AmazonBasics once again provides a great product for a great price. I didn’t need high protection and needed 2, so this 2-pack was exactly what I needed. The only issue (my own fault for not reading more closely) is the cable is very short. The individual ones have higher protection and have a much longer cable, so just make sure you know exactly what you’re getting before buying.

Surge protection is questionable
The instructions state: “Do not install this device if there is not at least 10 meters (30 feet) or more of wire between the electrical outlet and the extricate service panel. For one, 10 meters is over 32.75 feet - get it right! (Or just don’t bother with conversions to cater to backwards nations that still aren’t on the metric system.) More importantly, that’s a fairly long distance and many outlets in your house on side where your service panel is will have less wire than that between the panel and the outlet. So I wouldn’t rely on the surge protector in this thing actually doing much. It seems to rely on your house wiring doing half the work. I also wish manufactures would space the outlets father apart. They must know about all the awkward plugs we have to fit on these things and you often end up with outlets that can’t be used because the plugs are too close together. It’s a decent price though, so I wasn’t expecting it to be the best.

I Was Worried
When I ordered these, I was a little worried, some reviews from people who don't know proper ethics of using anything that use power, to the low pricetag for how many bars you get. But wow, these surprised me. They are sturdy, they seem much higher quality than more expensive bars you can get in stores, and they power my products just fine. I tested out the surge protection on one of them, just for fun, as I had an extra, and it works like a charm. I really can't recommend these enough, and as a house with tonnes of power bars these really do it for me.
