Excellent, simple and sturdy dog seat cover
I was very surprised by the high quality of this item. It's simple (no extra pockets or unnecessary features) and looks nice in my Nissan Leaf. It's a sturdy canvas type material. Would buy again.

What do you mean I can't wash it?
Ok, I thought this would be perfect to not only keep all the doggo hairs from taking up permanent residence in the back seat, but to help with any messes our (newly discovered motion sickness prone) pup has. There was no mention of cleaning on the box/packaging. Reading the reviews, it seems you can't run it through the washing machine unless you don't mind the waterproof backing completely disintegrating and rendering this cover no longer "water resistant". I've tried detergent and hosing it off and taking a small scrub brush and working on some of the stain left behind, but neither has been 100% effective. If I had to do it over, I would keep looking for something you can hose off and still throw in the washer to get it clean.

great product
I ordered the outward hound hammock to protect my 2012 Ford F-150 supercab . The hammock fit my truck's back seat pretty well, except that I wish it was a few inches longer on each end to fully cover the corner of the seat. Obviously I can't fault the product for this, as I knew it might be slightly short for my full size pickup. It works well for the supercab (extended cab) but I think it would be too small for any crew cab pickup. I have an 83lb pit bull/boxer mix who usually rides pretty contently. He doesn't thrash around much, he just kind of sits there like my co pilot. He's been to a half dozen rides with me since I installed the hammock and the hammock has held up well. There have been no failures in any of the straps, buckles or mounts and there are no signs of tears. This includes a trip to camp in which my dog got very wet and sandy on one occasion. The sand just brushed right off the hammock. Overall I'd say this is an excellent product. It installed easily, cleans easily and it does an excellent job of protecting my dog and my truck. I'd recommend this product to anyone. The price was right too. I haven't tried any of the other hammocks on the market but I can't see how spending 3-4x as much would yield a better product. Outward hound is. the way to go. UPDATE 9-7-2013: After about 2 months of regular use, I'm happy to report that the pet hammock is still going strong with no failures of any kind. It has since migrated from my '12 F150 supercab to my fiance's 2011 Mazda 3, as the Mazda has become the primary dog hauler. The hammock fits the Mazda 3 perfectly an provides full coverage of the seats while keeping our dog safe and content in the back. On on occasion he was able to jump his front half over the hammock but that was because he saw a crow in the road (he hates crows) and he spazzed out. He's not normally that rammy and the hammock has worked great. I can see though, if you had a very active spastic dog, you might want to put some additional provision in place to keep him/her contained in the back seat. This is an excellent product and has paid for itself many times over in upholstery cleaner. Buy this product

Amazed by how good it is.
We purchased this hammock because we were going to take our first ever road trip with our two dogs, a lab and a border collie, who in the past have had an intense dislike for car rides. After an unfortunate messy poo-related incident with the border collie on a trip to the vet the day before, which needless to say left our backseat an absolute smelly mess, we found ourselves cursing that we hadn't thought of ordering this hammock sooner. The hammock covers the seats well and did a good job of keeping the fur and dirt off the seats. It's made of a sturdy canvas-type plastic, which is what my fiance was most pleased with after the nasty incident the day before, since it meant it'd be easy to clean if anything happened. What I liked about it most was that it extended the base of the seats, pretty much, so we didn't have to worry about our dogs slamming into the foot wells whenever we hit the brakes (we also had seat belt leashes to keep them strapped in for safety.) Overall, it made for a much more pleasant and relaxed car trip as our two dogs were content enough to lay or sit down and watch the scenery go by. Our lab even enjoyed resting his chin on where the hammock hung between the two front seats. The road trip we took was about 2 hours there and another 2 back, and it was the most pleasant road trip I've ever been on with my two dogs. My only gripe with the hammock is that it's not quite as big as depicted in the picture here (though maybe our backseat is bigger, we have a 2007 Chevy Cobalt) and there weren't any instructions on how to properly install it into the backseat. It had a couple of straps on the underside of the hammock, which I wasn't 100% sure what to do with, so we ended up wedging them between the bottom and back of the seat. Otherwise, this hammock is great and I would definitely recommend you invest in one if you want to take your dogs on road trips!

Excellent! Why didn't I know about this sooner
Excellent! Why didn't I know about this sooner. Took a bit for the dogs to feel confident sitting on it, but also works great for travel when we had to use a rental car to prevent (as much) fluff and dirt getting everywhere.

Good Quality
I have bought 3 different ones, from 3 different brands and this is the one that: -works the best -made well -hasn’t fallen apart -easy to clean I like this style because you don’t have to worry about the dog falling in between the seats. Super easy to move about for human passengers.

A good product, but could use improvements
I bought this as I was familiar with Kyjen's Outward Hound products and bought an Outward Hound backpack for my Border Collie last year, so I expected the same kind of quality. Since my dog is a long hair breed, he sheds a lot and it's no fun trying to keep all that hair off cloth seats. The cover really is barely wide enough for my mid-sized Ford Taurus wagon and could use a better way to attach to back seats that do not have head rests, especially split fold seats. It doesn't quite cover the top part of the seat but is long enough to attach to the front headrest posts to keep it in place. The back loops could be much longer to reach over the back seat and anchor to the car's child seat anchors. Right now I have the upper loops hanging off the back seat latches for now until I can fashion loops to fit all the way back to the child seat anchors. It also needs the seat ends tied down somehow because my dog will sometimes lose his chew toy or rawhide bone under the cover and he would try to dig it back out. Make sure you check the width of your seats to make sure it does fully fit across the seat. Great price though!
