This got the job done. Cheaper than a new blade . Figured I would sharpen this blade 1 to 2 more times with this and then buy a new blade, saves you from having to purchase a new blade every time which is a plus.

Designed Specifically For Mower Blades ░░░ Full Demo In My Video
The media could not be loaded. As someone who has been sharpening mower blades for over 20 years (I used to have a landscaping company called "The Sod Squad"), I swear by this mower blade sharpener. This is because of two reasons: the handle design is very easy to use (no risk of cutting yourself), and the actual design of the sharpener (one carbide side and one guide) is specific to mower blades. The sharpener works very well. Mower blades are not knives, so you don't need to put a bevel on both sides of the blade. You also don't need to get them razor sharp. Instead, a mower blade just has a single bevel, and this is why this sharpener is ideal. It's true that you CAN sharpen your mower blade with a file. But it's way easier and faster to just swipe the blade with this sharpener. ░░░ A FEW NOTES AFTER YEARS OF WORKING ON MOWERS ░░░ 1. If your blade is really old and beat up, you may need to take some of the dings out of it with a file. That will be determined by how many rocks and sprinkler heads that you've hit. 2. While it's tempting to try to sharpen the blade while it's still on the mower, don't. It's way, way easier to take the blade off and sharpen it. Plus, you'll do a better job. 3. If you don't have a bench vise to clamp your blade into when sharpening, just use a couple of 2x4s screwed together to hold the blade in place. 4. If you really want a well-running mower, use a blade balancer like this one:Oregon Lawn Mower Blade Balancer 42-100 . Balancing the blade is not essential for homeowners and few people do this, but it's ideal if you're mowing a lot commercially or just really into having a fine-tuned mower. 5. A razor sharp mower blade is really overkill, because you're just cutting grass. So my advice would be to not obsess about getting a perfectly sharp blade. This sharpener will get it plenty sharp. 6. Regular sharpening, like every season or even twice a season, will keep the blade nice and sharp. If you let it get too dull it'll be hard to sharpen (like after several years). So it's a nice design with the built-in brush and sharpener angle. I strongly recommend it. ................. This product was NOT given to me as part of any promotion. I bought it after doing some comparison shopping and this review is entirely the result of my own opinions and use of the product.

sort of good
these aren't a substitute for proper sharpening. they're fine if your blade is in good shape, and just full. any nicks, etc. forget it. once your blade gets quite dull, these things won't cut it. fine if they're newish blades and you want to use as frequent maintenance sharpening

Works as advertised
I live on an acreage and have a lot to mow with both a push mower and lawn tractor. I've always wanted a way to sharpen the blades in an easy and consistent way. This tool is easy to use and does a pretty good job at getting an even profile all along the blade. Don't try to sharpen a blade while it's still on the mower. Remove the blade and clamp it in a vise. To match my blade angle I had to hold it slightly off the flat of the blade but this wasn't a problem once I got the hang of it. Don't expect it to create a sharp edge with a few strokes, especially if the blade is really dull. If there are dings and nicks you will want to smooth them out with a file first. How long will the sharpening teeth last? I haven't used it long enough to know but it should be good for a few years at least.

The best sharpener you can get for residential blades.
Most of my cutting is done with a commercial mower using commercial blades, and for that I have a special rig that attaches to an angle grinder to maintain the correct angle while using a more aggressive tool to sharpen the blades. I’ve recently picked up a few clients that have a small gate that requires me to use my smaller 21” mower, so I was back in the market to find a way to sharpen “regular” mower blades while maintaining the correct angle. In the past, I’d simply use a vise and a sharpening attachment for my drill to sharpen these types of blades... but after moving I no longer have a vise so I was looking for a cheaper way to achieve the same result. With this product, it maintains the correct edge while being just aggressive enough to sharpen a blade within minutes. The problem with the drill attachments is no matter how hard you try, you will always move the sharpener across the blade in a un-uniform way... either you’ll apply more pressure in one area or another, or your speed will vary while going across the length of the blade. Couple that with the high RPM of the drill, and you’re bound to have some areas that get a little more attention from the grinding wheel than others over time. With this product, the only way you can really screw it up is by pressing too hard on one area or another, but even if you did that... you’re still doing it by hand so the damage you can do is pretty limited compared to using a power tool. I use a simple C-clamp to hold my blade while sharpening, but to be honest sometimes I skip that step and just hold it with one hand while I use this sharpener with the other and it works just fine. As another reviewer commented, if you count your “strokes” on one side of your blade and repeat it on the other, you’ll be pretty much spot-on when it comes to balancing. To sharpen a blade from a dull condition to a “holy ### this is sharp” state, other reviewers are correct that it takes about 30 stokes per side. It sounds like this is hard or takes a long time, but to sharpen both sides of a blade takes maybe 5 minutes including the balancing process. I spend far more time with my angle grinder on my commercial blades... this sharpener makes my “regular” blades seem easy peezy. The steel brush it comes with is surprisingly high quality too, although to be honest nobody is buying this for the brush. But it’s still worth mentioning.

No brush
Easy to use. Very helpful to sharpen at an angle. Came without brush with fully sealed package-false advertising for that. Amazon needs to make them correct it. I liked the main product for my manual lawn mower and noticed the difference right away. I didnt even have to remove the blades! Personally I don't care if it lasts only a few sharpenings! It is worth it and saves me having to buy another $100 manual lawnmower. From 69yr old grandma
